Collective Effort

In the computer science field, scientists have drawn on the capabilities of hundreds of thousands of personal computers to break down and solve complex computational problems. The way to reach Universal Coverage in water and sanitation is similar. Break down the challenge into do-able bite-size chunks and complete each one while tying them into a focused and coherent larger picture. A major reason why most efforts fail is that trying to prove do-ability in many locations at once leads to dissipation of energy and resources. We have learned that it is absolutely critical to build and sustain the high and focused energy that is created by regional then country-specific success.

WaterPlus will thus offer schools, corporations, individuals, charities, unions, political parties, religious and service organizations and others the opportunity to select, fund and/or build a specific, discrete project. As the teams complete one task, they go on to the next. Each task will be "brandable," and many will offer the sponsor(s) opportunities for personal involvement. Collectively these individual tasks and achievements become an unstoppable force.

Our goal before reaching critical mass is to achieve Universal Coverage in each target country as quickly as possible. Experience with the disease eradication campaigns has shown that after critical mass humanity is strengthened to the point where wide scale efforts can be sustained without dissipation.
